It’s winter in LA – yes, there is such a thing. Believe it or not, it sometimes gets down into the 30’s here. I know, boo-hoo for us, say our friends in Minnesota and Wisconsin, but for US it’s cold, and that’s when we enjoy a nice, hearty dish to warm us up – even if our definition of cold isn’t the same as yours. Our kids and Tom’s Mom request this beef stew all of the time. It’s rich and flavorful, with mouth-wateringly tender pieces of beef, as well as carrots, peas, potatoes and more. That’s an easy pairing for Tom – Beef Stew goes well with lots of red wines – it’s really hard to miss, but you’ll hear Tom’s take on what to look for in a wine to make it a practically perfect pairing in every way.
Tonight’s wine pairing is a little bit of a splurge at $40-$50: Château Bellefont Belcier St. Emilion – we also found this at our local Costco, but they don’t sell wine online.
